I just got one of these Vivitar Spider Tripods.
I’m surprised at how strong and stable it is, given the price. It easily holds my 1.5 lb Canon PowerShot SX10IS, and feels like it would have no problem with a heavier digital SLR.
I had a smaller-sized Joby GP1-EBEN Gorillapod Flexible Tripod (Blue) with my smaller Canon camera that I lost, and the Gorillapod struggled to hold that 1 lb camera. I had to superglue the top joint to keep it from tipping over. I don’t anticipate having that problem with this Vivitar Spider Tripod.
